Now this is the Anaphylaxis Kitt. It's a product made by Kitt Medical. What it is, is the idea is to have auto injectors on the wall securely in the same way as you'd have an AED or a first aid kit. Now, there are rules about who can have these, so if you need more information, you can contact them direct about that. But the idea is having auto injectors in a single safe place. So, for example, if you're in a school, you've got one place where the auto injectors are, and then any relevant first aiders can access those auto injectors in a simple-to-use first aid kit, so they're transported nice and easily. Now this is a training unit, this is not the live unit. So you've got trainee auto-injectors inside it. And the layout and how this works is very similar to the full unit. So this will be mounted onto a wall so it can be securely kept there. So the back orange bracket is fixed securely onto the wall. Once it's in the bracket, it won't come out. That's actually locked in place. What you have is you'd give your first aiders a key. So this key will go into the front, and you literally push the key in and then push it down and turn it, and then that's unlocked it, and then the main box can come out. So looking at the side, we'll be using to show you how the key works. If we just lock that, you'll see on the side there, these little pegs here come straight out to lock it inside the case. So once this is on the wall, no one can take it without the key. So let's push it in, and they'll come in. So once you've got that kit there, you literally undo the top and open it. And then from inside, you've got the auto injectors. Clearly states at the top here, the 300 milligram ones and 150 milligram ones. They're colour coded in red and yellow, so it's really clear which ones we're using for adults, children. This unit is all kit up and Jext works directly with Jext. So these are Jext auto injectors. And again, these are trainer units, so the real ones would be in the proper casing and things like that. But this is just the training version in here. So the idea here is very easily you can take the auto injector out and then you can use that. It's quite easy to see expiry dates, things like that on the units and you can keep a check on them. Also at the bottom here, it's a very simple 1, 2, 3 system of how to use the kit as well. So it means that the auto injectors can be very safely and securely stored, moved to where they're needed and used. And doesn't matter what age, child or adult, you're dealing with, you're going to have both sizes in there. And also, if you need to use a second one, you've got the second auto injector in the kit as well. So this kit is really good idea for dealing with any anaphylaxis emergency. But remember, there are restrictions on who can actually buy these because there are drugs in there, so you need to make sure you can use them. It's not a standard thing you'd have in every single workplace because you need to have the relevant training and the relevant authority to buy them, but there are rules there, and depending on where you're working and who's at your workplace and what sort of risks you are as to whether you can get these. But if you need more information about these, then get in touch.
Enhancing Workplace Allergy Preparedness with Kitt Medical’s Anaphylaxis Kit
Severe allergic reactions, known as anaphylaxis, can occur unexpectedly and escalate rapidly. To address this critical health concern, Kitt Medical has developed the Anaphylaxis Kitt—a wall-mounted emergency kit designed to provide immediate access to adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs) in workplaces and educational settings across the UK.
Key Features of the Anaphylaxis Kitt
- Secure Wall-Mounted Design: The kit is installed in a visible and accessible location, similar to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), ensuring prompt access during emergencies.
- Colour-Coded Adrenaline Auto-Injectors: Contains two 300mcg injectors for adults and two 150mcg injectors for children, clearly labelled for quick identification.
- Comprehensive Training: Includes access to a CPD-accredited online training course, developed in partnership with Anaphylaxis UK, to educate staff on recognising and responding to anaphylactic reactions.
- Automatic Replenishment: Adrenaline pens are monitored and replaced before expiry or after use at no additional cost, ensuring the kit is always ready for use.
Eligibility and Compliance
Under UK regulations, adrenaline auto-injectors are prescription-only medicines. However, exemptions allow registered schools and qualifying businesses with an occupational health scheme to purchase and maintain AAIs for emergency use. Kitt Medical's service aligns with these regulations, providing organisations with the necessary tools and training to manage anaphylaxis effectively.
Implementation and Accessibility
Each Anaphylaxis Kitt comes with four keys, including a breakable emergency key box, to ensure controlled yet swift access. The kits are designed to be easily transported to the site of an emergency, facilitating immediate response. Clear instructions and a straightforward 1-2-3 usage guide are included to assist even untrained individuals in administering the injectors correctly.
Conclusion
By integrating the Anaphylaxis Kitt into your workplace or educational institution, you demonstrate a proactive approach to health and safety, ensuring that staff are prepared to handle severe allergic reactions promptly and effectively.
